Collection: Oil Pump Series

Oil pumps are the heart of engine lubrication and hydraulic systems in heavy equipment. Engine oil pumps (lubrication pumps) ensure continuous oil flow to critical engine components, reducing friction, dissipating heat, and preventing premature wear. Hydraulic oil pumps generate the fluid power needed to operate boom, arm, bucket, and travel functions.

HE PUMP supplies oil pumps for Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo, Hitachi, JCB, John Deere, Kubota, and other major equipment brands. All pumps meet or exceed OEM performance specifications.

Types of Oil Pumps We Supply

  • Engine Lube Oil Pumps: Gear-type and rotor-type pumps that maintain oil pressure in the engine lubrication circuit. Critical for preventing bearing failure and engine seizure
  • Scavenge Oil Pumps: Return oil from dry sump engine configurations back to the oil tank. Common on high-performance and turbocharged engines
  • Hydraulic Gear Pumps (Oil): Fixed and variable displacement gear pumps for hydraulic systems that use oil as the working fluid
  • Oil Transfer Pumps: Auxiliary pumps for transferring engine oil, hydraulic oil, or coolant between reservoirs
  • Vacuum Pumps (Engine Oil-Driven): Some engines use an oil-driven vacuum pump for brake boosters and HVAC actuators

How Engine Oil Pumps Work

Most engine oil pumps are driven by the crankshaft or camshaft. As the engine runs, the pump draws oil from the sump (wet sump) or oil tank (dry sump) and pressurizes it before sending it to:

  • Main bearings and rod bearings (critical engine components)
  • Camshaft and valve train
  • Piston cooling jets (on some engines)
  • Turbocharger bearings (high-temperature, high-RPM application)
  • Hydraulic valve lifters and variable valve timing systems

Proper oil pressure is essential — too low and engine components wear rapidly; too high and seals and gaskets can blow out.

Common Applications

  • Engine lubrication: Maintaining oil pressure for bearings, pistons, camshaft, and valvetrain
  • Turbocharger lubrication: High-pressure oil feed to turbo bearings (failure here causes rapid turbo failure)
  • Hydraulic systems: Gear-type oil pumps for medium-pressure hydraulic circuits
  • Oil cooling circuits: Circulating oil through oil coolers to manage engine temperature
  • Scavenge systems: Dry sump engines require scavenge pumps to return oil from cylinder heads and turbochargers

Equipment We Cover

  • Caterpillar: C7, C9, C11, C13, C15, C18 engines; 320, 330, 345, 374 excavators
  • Komatsu: SAA6D series engines; PC200, PC300, PC400 excavators
  • Volvo: D6, D8, D11, D13 engines; EC220, EC300, EC380 excavators
  • John Deere: 4045, 6068, 6090 engines; 310, 350, 470 excavators
  • Other Brands: Hitachi, JCB, Kubota, Sany, XCMG

Signs of Oil Pump Failure

  • Low oil pressure warning on dashboard or monitoring screen
  • Excessive engine noise — ticking or knocking from valvetrain or bottom end
  • Metal particles in engine oil (check the drain plug magnet and oil filter)
  • Overheating engine (oil circulation is critical for heat dissipation)
  • Oil light flickers at idle (worn pump cannot maintain pressure at low RPM)
  • Engine seizure (catastrophic failure from oil starvation)

Preventing Oil Pump Failure

  • Change engine oil and filters on schedule: Contaminated oil accelerates pump wear and clogs suction screens
  • Use the correct oil viscosity: Wrong viscosity causes low pressure at operating temperature
  • Check oil level daily: Low oil level can cause pump cavitation and damage
  • Monitor oil pressure: Install an aftermarket oil pressure gauge if the machine only has a warning light
  • Replace the oil pump at engine overhaul: If you are already tearing down the engine, replace the oil pump — it is cheap insurance
